Description
Thank you for your interest in Scripture Link! Here you will find the first six weeks of family Bible time plans. If you sign up at checkout for shop updates, you will receive an email when more weeks are available for purchase. There will be 24 weeks in total.
Why Scripture Link? As you memorize facts about U.S. history, would you like a nugget of Biblical truth to hang onto for the week? A little seed to plant in the hearts of your kids about the goodness and mercy of God in a world full of sin and hardships? This family guide will help you connect simple, yet profound truths in Scripture with historical events.
This guide follows the history topics in Classical Conversations Cycle 3, but it does not rely on that material, and anyone studying history can use this guide. Each week has a short Scripture passage with a verse or two highlighted to memorize. It is followed by the main idea and then some thoughts on the connection. For those with older kids, there are discussion questions based on the Five Common Topics. If you have Challenge kids, this is a great way to include them in family Bible time. You’ll discuss things like how exploration glorifies God and the authority of the Kingdom of God. Every age group can participate in the culmination of praise to our great God. Ideas for prayer, praise, and thanksgiving are included with a suggested psalm, hymn, or spiritual song. Scripture Link provides a way to set our minds on Christ alongside our history studies.
How to Use This Guide
We hope this guide is a blessing to your family!
Each week follows the same format:
- Topic – The week and the history topic are listed at the top of the page.
- Scripture – A short Scripture passage is given to read.
- Memory Verse – One verse is selected to memorize. The ESV is used in this guide, but you are encouraged to use the translation of your choice.
- Scripture to History Link: This is a short main idea summary.
- Connection – Thoughts about the connection are given to flesh it out.
- Dialectic Discussion – Questions follow the Five Common Topics – Use these for the older kids in your family (or the parents!). This is a good way to incorporate Challenge kids into family Bible time with younger siblings.
- Praise – The culmination of our learning should result in praise to God. Suggestions are given for prayer, praise, and thanksgiving along with a suggested song, hymn, or spiritual song.
- Notebooking Pages – Optional worksheets are included to copy the verse and illustrate the theme. Two handwriting levels are included.
- Online Links – I’ve also included links to primary sources to enhance your discussion time as well as songs on youtube.
