Advent is the celebration of coming – the coming of the True King into this world. We celebrate the Advent season in December. Although the birth of Jesus was probably not in December, and most likely not even during winter, it is right to celebrate. We are not celebrating a day or a season, we are celebrating a person who is God in the flesh, and we are celebrating that He came in the fullness of time and will certainly come again.
The True King wasn’t who they expected, but he is who they needed. Perhaps, when we look at Scripture, we see He is not who we expected either, but He is all we need. Scripture tells us exactly who this King is and why He came. I want my kids to know exactly who He is; I want them to dwell on and remember the Scriptures.
In December, we will celebrate His coming as a family during our evening family worship time. We will follow a simple plan of reading and discussing Scriptures and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.
Follow Along with Us!
Follow along with us on this blog. Every morning in December, I will post links to Scriptures and songs along with a few thoughts or discussion questions for each day.
The Scriptures and songs will match up with the Advent wall stickers our family is using (but you can definitely follow along without the stickers). The wall stickers are to help remember what Scripture says about Jesus. I want my family to see the pictures on the walls of our home throughout the days of December and remember again and again. I want our remembering to turn into celebrating, and singing, and worshiping the One True King. I want the same for you and your family too!

If you’re on our email list, you will receive a daily email Dec 1-25.
