Read the context around these key verses when possible!
Jesus is the Lion – The Lion of the tribe of Judah – promised and long awaited, born in Bethlehem, crucified, resurrected, and ascended to the right hand of the Father. In Revelation we see His fierce righteousness has conquered and He is the only one worthy to open the seals on the scroll.
How is He worthy to open the seals?
He is also the Lamb – The Lamb of God who was slain – The Lamb whose blood washes away the stain of sin – The Lamb who brings people back to God from every nation and tribe and tongue – The Lamb who conquered and who shepherds His people.
What is our only hope in life and death?
“That we are not our own but belong to God “New City Catechism, Question 1
He is the righteous and holy king – The Lion. And He is the acceptable sacrifice – The Lamb. When there is no one worthy, no one in heaven or earth or under the earth, worthy is the Lamb!
Praise will ring forever and ever. Worthy is the Lamb!
