December 3 – Jesus is the Promised Rescuer

Posted on December 3, 2019December 2, 2019 by Angie

Scripture Verses

Genesis 3:15

Matthew 1:21

Read the context around these key verses when possible!

Reflections

God created the world, and everything in it was very good. When the first man and woman believed the lie of the snake instead of believing God, sin entered into the world – and death through sin. The entire creation was taken captive, and all mankind was subject to the wrath of God.

“Because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve, we are all born in sin and guilt, unable to keep God’s law.”

New City Catechism, Question 14

Even from the beginning of man’s sin, God promised to send a Rescuer to crush the head of the snake. Jesus is the Rescuer!

Jesus, the Promised Rescuer, came in the fullness of time to save His people from their sins!

Note: The entire story of The Rescuer is summed up well in The Biggest Story: How the Snake-Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden. Enjoy reading the storybook or watching the DVD. If you don’t already own a copy, you can purchase a download of the video from Crossway. If you have access to Right Now Media, you can view the video here. You can order the hardcover with Amazon Prime and receive it in a few days. It will be a good read all season… and all year!

Discussion

What do we need to be rescued from? How did God keep His promise to send a Rescuer?

Neighbors & Nations

We are blessed to be a blessing. Whether near or far, God’s heart is to make His name known so people from every nation will worship Him.

What can our family do today to make God’s name known?

Ideas for December 3
