Reflections

Have you ever felt too little? Too little to stay up late with the older kids? Too little to ride the exciting rides? Too little to….

Bethlehem was too little. Too little to be as important or significant as the big city. Or so it seemed. God has a way of taking what’s little and making it grand.

That’s what He did when He orchestrated all the events to lead Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem – the City of David – the city of promise – the city where the King would be born.

King Jesus was not born in the capital city of Jerusalem, or in a large city, or surrounded by fanfare. He was a different kind of King. Not a king who would bring pomp and circumstance, but a king who would bring peace. Peace between man and God.

Lighting the Candles

On the second Sunday of Advent, we light the Bethlehem Candle, also known as the Peace Candle. The Light that was born in a small stable, in a small town, on a dark night, brought the only true peace the world has even known.

Discussion

Have you ever felt small and unimportant? How does having Christ as your King change what seems so small to become grand?

Neighbors & Nations

We are blessed to be a blessing. Whether near or far, God’s heart is to make His name known so people from every nation will worship Him.

What can our family do today to make God’s name known?
